Salivary Hormone Testing

Why I Use Salivary Hormone Testing in My Practice

When it comes to hormone testing, you have multiple options.

And you’re going to hear different opinions from various healthcare professionals.

But I’m not here to share my opinion with you.

I’m here to share the facts so you don’t have to weed through all the opinions and bogus information that is floating around on the internet and your social media platforms…

When it comes to hormone testing you have a few different options.

Hormones can be tested in blood, saliva, and urine.

And, honestly, they all have their advantages…

But they all tell you something different.

Blood hormone levels give you a quick snapshot of your total hormone levels. This is particularly useful if you’re looking to see if there is something wrong with a hormone-producing organ (i.e. diabetes screening, or thyroid conditions).

Saliva hormone levels show you tissue levels of hormones – it is what is in (or not in) your tissues that cause symptoms of hormone imbalance.

Urine hormone levels show you how your body is breaking down hormones.

So, while hormones CAN be tested in all three mediums, the one you choose depends on what you’re looking to see.

Most of the women I work with come to me because of symptoms associated with peri or post-menopause.

For these women, saliva hormone testing makes the most sense. It’s well-validated, inexpensive, easy to collect, and non-invasive…

All while providing us with the information we need to pinpoint the cause of their symptoms and develop a well-rounded, individualized, and successful plan for hormone-balancing…so they can quickly reach the real goal of feeling like themselves again.
